Teachers in Early Years through to Year 13, Administrative and Support Staff, Students, Temporary Teachers, Learners of all confidence levels.
Our First Aid for Schools course is unique and tailored for those working in a school environment with children and young adults. It covers the statutory requirement for first aiders for adults and children. Those working in their early years or in a school nursery can complete additional eLearning to upgrade to Full Paediatric First Aid. Based on your risk assessment you may need to have additional colleagues holding a First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate.
What are the First Aid requirements for schools?
A school has dual responsibility for the welfare of its pupils and staff. This means that you must have BOTH Paediatric and Adult qualified first aiders. The UK Resus Council updated their guidance in September 2021 to state that Paediatric First Aid Protocols must be followed on infants through to 18 years.
This course meets the OFSTED criteria for Early Years. the DfE requirement for all pupils and the HSE requirement for the welfare of adults working at or visiting a school.
Please note, as per your risk assessment, you will need someone on-site holding a three-day FAW qualification at all times.
How is this course delivered?
All Qualified First-aiders must complete face-to-face practical training. Therefore, this course is delivered face-to-face with 6 hours of practical training covering child and adult first aid protocols. Those working within the early years will also be required to complete 6 hours of at-home eLarning to meet the full OFSTED criteria of 12 hours of learning.
Certification
All staff will receive a First Aid for Schools Certificate, which outlines the content covered
